When your baby is 17 months old, your so happy when he's doing this...

Joseph still has good sleep habits. He takes his morning nap around 11 and sleeps till 1ish. He also has rest time in the afternoons around 4 and will play in his crib for an hour. He goes to bed around 9 and sleeps till 8 pretty much every night. He had his 1st ear infection last week. He had a runny nose for a week, then developed a nasty cough so I took him in and he had pus in one of his ears, so the doc prescribed antibiotics. He never acted like his ears hurt and never ran a fever. I dreaded the antibiotics, since last time he got massive diarrhea. I started probiotics with the antibiotics and after 2 days he had normal bm's again. We go tomorrow for a check up on the infection to make sure it is gone. Next month we will see Dr. Roy for his throat and the plan is to lower the dose of his propranolol. Yay for clear breathing :)!
Joseph is everywhere these days. He doesn't walk-he runs. He is also beginning to climb. He can get on the couch and the rocker by himself. Daddy also had the step stool out and Joseph climbed to the first step, but he wouldn't go any higher. I don't think he is much of a climber compared to other parents I talk to. He has never tried to clib out of his crib.
Joseph LOVES books. I could read to him all day. He likes to pick out books for us to read and he is memorizing many more noises/words from books. He loves his CD player in his room, and his favorite CD is one a friend gave me with nursery rhymes being sung by a child. He even sings along and dances. Joseph loves being outdoors riding in the wagon, stroller, walking Gina, playing in the grass, playing with the wind chimes, dirt, and he likes walking in my flower garden. He loves to go "bye-bye" and getting his shoes on. He is still obsessed with anything bubble related.
Joseph's vocabulary is large, mostly me and Joey know what he is saying. He continues to sign, some new words he says or tries to say are milk, boat, meow, snoopy, hippo, nose, eye, and many, many sound effects. I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of any.
He is starting to eat just a little more meat, but not a lot. For protein he eats a ton of beans, tofu, tahini, flaxseed, and sometimes chicken. He loves raisins, crasins, cheese, eggs, and bananas. He still eats his oatmeal (with additives) for breakfast everyday, and has yogurt (with an added protein) for another meal. He loves fish and my salmon patties. And he really likes the rice at Kobe :) So does Mama!
Our weekly schedule changed a bit lately. On Mondays I tried a new mom's group at the Woodlands Methodist church, I'm not sure if I'll go back but they have an awesome nursery for Joseph when we meet. He has been once. It is just so hard for him to miss his 11am nap...on Tuesdays we have been trying ot get to story time at the library but haven't quite made it the last few weeks. Wednesday is still music time, and Friday's I meet with the Catholic mom's group or the La Leche group. Sundays Joseph goes to the church nursery during mass. This has worked out just a few times..for some reason I usually get a text in the middle of mass to come get my child. He just isn't used to the nursery yet...I'm hoping it will get better.
I am currently doing my research for child care. I am actively looking for work these days. My stay-at-home mom days will come to an end at some point but until then I am enjoying every second I have with my beautiful, healthy, SILLY!, 17 month old.
