Home from the hospital

We went in Thursday morning at 6:30am to Children's Memorial Hermann for the Diagnostic Laryngoscopy and Bronchoscopy. It didn't even take the doctor a full hour and he was calling us into the consultation room. He showed us the pictures of what was in Joseph's throat! A large mass! Finally, a real diagnoses, it was indeed a Subglottic Hemangioma! We stayed in he hospital from Thursday till Sunday. He was weaned off of the steroid and was put on a beta blocker, Propranolol. The ENT, Dr. Roy, said studies have shown that this blood pressure medication shrinks these types of masses dramatically. So far, I think he is right, my baby has not had trouble breathing since he started this medication. He gets it every 8 hours. In the hospital his glucose was checked every 8 hours and his blood pressure was kept under close watch. He is so bruised from all the poking, just look at his hand and feet in the picture, all bruised : ( Before we left the hospital he got his 2 month shots (a little late, he is 14 weeks) that is what the band aids are all about. Also, he didn't get a shot in his shin, but the nurse said he kicked after one of the shots and her needle went into his leg!! So that's why he has the extra band aid on his little shin. My poor baby! We are looking forwards to living a normal life now with a healthy baby. I can bring him places and we can travel out of town again. Thank God and all the prayers that are helping him heal. He will get another scope in the future and hopefully the mass will be gone.
