Our Hero

Joseph with Dr. Roy
The mass from the scope on Jan 27th

The subglottic hemangioma obstructing his breathing it's on the right side protruding into his airway

Yesterday we had a successful trip down to the med center to visit Dr. Roy, Joseph's ENT. Dr. Roy performed the scope on Joseph on January 27th that diagnosed him with the subglottic hemangioma. That date will always stick in my mind because our lives were changed for the better that day. That day brought the correct diagnoses of our baby. After over a month of suffering, we had an answer! So everytime we visit Dr. Roy, I feel so thankful for him and I praise God! Dr. Albright was the first ENT who suspected the SH, and he then sent us to Dr. Roy since our insurance covered his services. So a thank you for Dr. Albright as well! Yesterday, Dr Roy checked out Joseph and was impressed he had gained 4 pounds since the last visit. We are having no breathing issues, no stridor, nothing to cause alarm. The medicine is still doing its thing, so Dr. Roy just had to re-adjust the dosage since our baby is growing. We now will give him just a little more every 8 hours, as usual. At around 12 months we will begin weaning him off of the medicine. I am a little scared of this, but we will be looking for any signs of breathing distress. If the stridor comes back, or any type of breathing difficulty, then it might be too soon to wean. The mass is suppose to start going away sometime between 12-18 months. As of now, our baby is acting like a normal 6 month old and breathing clearly! I LOVE listening to him breathe like a normal baby, it is music to my ears! I am so thankful for the healing God has brought us!
