Six Months Old!

Loves being outside with Gina
My little dinosaur
Playing with Daddy after bath time

Shots in both thighs

We can't believe our baby is half a year old! This is such an exciting age, I'm loving every minute of it. Joseph is really laughing, smiling, talking, and jump, jump, jumping! When we hold him, he leans towards what he wants. We can tell he just wants to get down and go everywhere. Whenever he does start crawling, he's going to be a go getter I can already tell. He is able to sit up by himself. He occasionally falls backwards so I try to have the boppy or a soft blanket behind him. He can roll over, but still mostly stays on his back, still doesn't like tummy time so much. He would rather sit up and play more than anything. He is reaching for toys, our faces, the spoon when we feed him, and Gina of course.
He likes all of his food so far-cereal, pears, sweet potatoes, and avocados. The pedi said to wait until he is a year old to give him bananas again. It gave him bad diaper rash both times he had it. I am trying to introduce water at meal time, but so far he makes a funny face when he realizes it isn't mamma's milk in that bottle.
We visited the new pedi for the 2nd time. Dr. Byrd said he is developing well and he looks nice and healthy. Here is his percentiles:
Weight- 17#13oz, 56%
Height- 27, 71% (that's my tall boy!)
Head- 44, 57%
Overall he seems pretty average! We will visit the pedi again at 9 months. The nurse said no shots at that time, but they take blood to check for anemia. I think I'd rather have shots...
He also loves bath time. I get in the bath with him and he plays and kicks and has a good ole time. Daddy gets him out and dries him, cleans his ears, nose, and gets his pjs on. I love listening to them play, good bonding time for daddy and baby : ) I always hear lots of baby giggles and daddy laughs.
We will be leaving Daddy for a few days as we go visit GiGi and TeeToe in the big town of Corsicana. I pray Joseph adapts well to his new surroundings for the stay. Last time he didn't do so well. That was back in Feb when he was just feeling better from his illness. So hopefully he will enjoy all the lovin from Aunt Lacey and cousins Lucy and Lily, and the grandparents.

You might try giving him his water in a little cup....that sometimes helps with the confusion of it not being milk...And starts teaching him how to control a cup! I learned this at the Montessori in the infant room. They used plastic shot glasses for the babies, and I got some for Q when she started water. At first we held it up to her mouth and gave it to her, but she got the hang of it very fast and would tip it for herself. Of course it is also fun to dump it out on the highchair tray...but that's okay, too! :)
