Jady and Joey
We had a very nice Easter holiday with my family in Corsicana, Elm Mott, and Waco. It was a busy weekend, but the baby did terrific! Right when we arrived at Gigi and Teetoe's house, Joseph gave Gigi a big smile and we knew it was going to be a great visit:) My parents had Easter at their house on Saturday. He had his first egg hunt with cousin's Lillian and Lucille. Easter Sunday morning we got up and went to church and then headed to Elm Mott to my Aunt and Uncles house. Baby Joey had another easter egg hunt with his 2nd cousins, Keaton, Grayson, and Paxton. From there we headed out to the country to Grampy's house. Joseph put his feet in a pool with my cute 8 month old cousin, Jady Rain. Much of my family was just meeting Joseph for the first time. The easter bunny was good to him and he got $15.48 in prize egg money! The rest of the week we spent at Gigi and Teetoe's and I'll post more pics soon..Joseph even got to pet his first horse this past week!

Six Months Old!
Loves being outside with Gina
My little dinosaur
Playing with Daddy after bath time
Shots in both thighs
We can't believe our baby is half a year old! This is such an exciting age, I'm loving every minute of it. Joseph is really laughing, smiling, talking, and jump, jump, jumping! When we hold him, he leans towards what he wants. We can tell he just wants to get down and go everywhere. Whenever he does start crawling, he's going to be a go getter I can already tell. He is able to sit up by himself. He occasionally falls backwards so I try to have the boppy or a soft blanket behind him. He can roll over, but still mostly stays on his back, still doesn't like tummy time so much. He would rather sit up and play more than anything. He is reaching for toys, our faces, the spoon when we feed him, and Gina of course.
He likes all of his food so far-cereal, pears, sweet potatoes, and avocados. The pedi said to wait until he is a year old to give him bananas again. It gave him bad diaper rash both times he had it. I am trying to introduce water at meal time, but so far he makes a funny face when he realizes it isn't mamma's milk in that bottle.
We visited the new pedi for the 2nd time. Dr. Byrd said he is developing well and he looks nice and healthy. Here is his percentiles:
Weight- 17#13oz, 56%
Height- 27, 71% (that's my tall boy!)
Head- 44, 57%
Overall he seems pretty average! We will visit the pedi again at 9 months. The nurse said no shots at that time, but they take blood to check for anemia. I think I'd rather have shots...
He also loves bath time. I get in the bath with him and he plays and kicks and has a good ole time. Daddy gets him out and dries him, cleans his ears, nose, and gets his pjs on. I love listening to them play, good bonding time for daddy and baby : ) I always hear lots of baby giggles and daddy laughs.
We will be leaving Daddy for a few days as we go visit GiGi and TeeToe in the big town of Corsicana. I pray Joseph adapts well to his new surroundings for the stay. Last time he didn't do so well. That was back in Feb when he was just feeling better from his illness. So hopefully he will enjoy all the lovin from Aunt Lacey and cousins Lucy and Lily, and the grandparents.

Our Hero
Joseph with Dr. Roy
The mass from the scope on Jan 27th
The subglottic hemangioma obstructing his breathing it's on the right side protruding into his airway
Yesterday we had a successful trip down to the med center to visit Dr. Roy, Joseph's ENT. Dr. Roy performed the scope on Joseph on January 27th that diagnosed him with the subglottic hemangioma. That date will always stick in my mind because our lives were changed for the better that day. That day brought the correct diagnoses of our baby. After over a month of suffering, we had an answer! So everytime we visit Dr. Roy, I feel so thankful for him and I praise God! Dr. Albright was the first ENT who suspected the SH, and he then sent us to Dr. Roy since our insurance covered his services. So a thank you for Dr. Albright as well! Yesterday, Dr Roy checked out Joseph and was impressed he had gained 4 pounds since the last visit. We are having no breathing issues, no stridor, nothing to cause alarm. The medicine is still doing its thing, so Dr. Roy just had to re-adjust the dosage since our baby is growing. We now will give him just a little more every 8 hours, as usual. At around 12 months we will begin weaning him off of the medicine. I am a little scared of this, but we will be looking for any signs of breathing distress. If the stridor comes back, or any type of breathing difficulty, then it might be too soon to wean. The mass is suppose to start going away sometime between 12-18 months. As of now, our baby is acting like a normal 6 month old and breathing clearly! I LOVE listening to him breathe like a normal baby, it is music to my ears! I am so thankful for the healing God has brought us!

Super Porridge

Yesterday we sang Happy Birthday to Joseph! He was 6 months old! Tomorrow we go for his check up with the pedi, can't wait to see his percentages! We fed him cereal for the first time yesterday! I made him some Super Porridge out of the "Super Baby Food" book. It is made with whole grain brown rice. He loved it! We also whipped up some sweet potatoes, avocado, and pears. We froze them in little baggies for easy portion sizes. I won't freeze the cereal, so I'll be making it probably every few days. Once I blend the grain, it only takes 10 minutes to cook. I'm using the rice now, but hope to try some millet next time and maybe barley or oats. At 8 months he can have more than one grain, but for now single grain cereal is what his little digestive system can handle.

Baby Reveal party

Friday night we went to Martin and Jacque's baby party. It was a gender reveal party and we found out they are having a GIRL! They are so excited! They had cupcakes made and we all had to bite into them to see if there was blue or pink icing in the middle. We all had a nice time except for my baby Joseph...He started crying right when we walked in the door and he eventually stopped, but not for a while. He is not used to all the noise and someone else's house. I need to get him out more I guess.

Chew toy

Today we went to the farmer's market up the road. My baby turns 6mths old this Sunday and that means it's time for solids! He will not be eating cooked carrots until another month or so, but a nice cool floppy carrot makes for a great teether. I bought him some sweet potatos, pears, and avocados. I also bought us a cantaloupe, sweet red strawberries, corn, and seedless oranges. I stopped by kroger and bought the whole grain rice I'll be making his Super Porridge with. New foods for next week include the super porridge and pears. Of course we follow the 4 day wait rule just in case of any food allergies. So stand by for more first food pics this coming week!
