Baby's 1st gifts : )

Baby's first gift was a Future Rock Star onesy that Aunt Lacey bought. When Gigi and Teetoe came to visit they brought baby an Easter book and a baby ring chewie. Then according to Joey baby got the best gift of all...baby's first soccer ball, along with a super cute bath time book from Ghee and Poppy. I've also received two cards, one from a good friend I've known since Kindergarden and another from Joey's parents. Thank you for all these gifts!

About 13 weeks

I think I'm between 13 and 14 weeks. I've read on many websites about how our baby is growing and changing. Usually the baby is compared to the sizes of fruits, but one web site said my baby was the size of a medium goldfish! I couldn't help but laugh and wonder what the definition of "medium" really is. I guess I don't know my fish very well. Besides being like a fish, our baby is about 2.5 to 3 inches long, the ears are developed, the vocal cords will form this week, it can flex it's developing muscles and joints, and it gets prenatal hiccups which will strengthen the baby's diaphragm. The pancreas, gall bladder, and thyroid have developed, the kidneys can make urine, and the bone marrow is making white blood cells to help fight infection after birth. I hope the Chinese food I ate for dinner will help her keep on growing! I am feeling good, not as tired as I have been in the 1st trimester. I still need snacks throughout the day, but no more getting up in the middle of the night to eat.

12 weeks

On Tuesday Joey and I went to the doctor for my 12 week appointment. I had a 2nd ultrasound, met with the doctor, and had about 10 tubes of blood drawn. I was of course nervous and excited again about the ultrasound and all. The first thing I noticed on the ultrasound was the baby's spine and big head. We got to listen to the heart beat and see the baby move. The tech pointed out the hand, legs, arm, but really I couldn't tell what was what! I could make out the big alien like head and the torso. Kinda looks like an alien teddy bear to me. After the ultrasound we meet with Dr. Reed, it was Joey's first time to meet her. She told us everything was right on track and the baby was 6 cm long. I gained a huge 2 pounds and she said that was normal for the 1st trimester. She wants to see me in a month, I will have lab work and meet with her again. After we got the good news that everything was good, I told Joey "It's time to tell people"! The 12 week appointment made it so much more real to us. It is exciting to tell people and hear every one's excitement for us! I couldn't sleep Tuesday night because I was so worked up from excitement!
I'll be posting pics soon of Ghee and Poppy and GiGi and TeeToe, the proud grandparents to be! This will be the 3rd grandchild for both of them!
My sister gave us the shirt in the picture, she said she bought it a long time ago even before I got pregnant! Thanks Lacey!

Exercise!

I'm feeling good these days. I have been exhausted a lot, but besides that I'm pretty much normal. Sometimes I get tummy aches but that probably has to do with me being starving all the time. I've only had to get up once in the middle of the night and go downstairs to eat something. I told Joey to move the mini fridge upstairs beside the bed..but he hasn't yet.
Right when I found out I was expecting I started attending my Yoga classes again. I had stopped when I got Gina back in November. I knew I had to get moving again! My fitness teacher is certified in prenatal classes, nutrition, and numerous fitness classes. Her website is http://www.yogastar.net/ I'm taking the normal yoga class up until I'm about 5-6mths, then after that I'll be switching to the prenatal class. Until I have a baby belly she said I am good to continue with the normal class. Besides yoga on Mondays, Gina and I are walking and rollerblading. We are loving the time change, it gives me extra daylight to get out after work and exercise in the neighborhood. Here is a picture of Gina and I after a workout!
I go back to the doc on the 6th when I'll be 12 weeks!! Yay! We are so excited!

A Month Later

Exactly a month later I had my first doctor's appointment with Dr. Reed. She is a high risk physician who's office is conveniently located on the 3rd floor of where I work. I had a good experience and didn't wait long.. Joey didn't get to come with me to my first appointment but hopefully he can come next month.
I am pretty sure I was shaking when I checked in, I was nervous and anxious all at once. Before I knew it, I was waiting on the ultrasound table for it to begin. My eyes were glued to the screen looking for anything that resembled a baby. After many measurements were taken, I saw it... our BABY! It was amazing and words cannot express how I felt. I could not believe this tiny miracle was really inside me! I saw the head, torso, and feet buds, even saw the heartbeat! I fell in love that moment looking at our baby. I just wanted to stare at it forever on that screen. After that excitement, I met with Dr. Reed who assured me everything was right on track. I was 8 weeks and maybe a few days and the baby and me checked out good. I had one complaint about burning pain I was having on my right side, and she told me I do have a cyst on my right ovary but they would watch it. It is nothing to worry about now, it just causes me quite a lot of pain sometimes..My next appointment is in a month when I will be 12 weeks.
So when I got home and showed Joey the cutest baby ever, he looked at the sonogram and pointed to the baby's little nubby feet and said "Yep, it's gonna be a soccer player" Needless to say Daddy Joey is very excited about Baby Boeller!
